DAY 1: LIMA TO NAZCA / OVERFLIGHT OF THE MYSTERIOUS NAZCA LINES
The Nazca lines are a series of geoglyphs located in the Nazca Desert, a high arid plateau that stretches more than 80 km (50 miles) between the towns of Nazca and Palpa. These are largely believed to have been created by the Nazca culture between 200 BC and AD 700. There are hundreds of individual figures, ranging in complexity from simple lines to stylized hummingbirds, spiders, monkeys, fish, sharks or orcas, llamas, and lizards. The exact reason the figures were built remains a mystery… * * * Early morning transfer from your hotel in Lima to bus station (4:00AM). We board the 1st Class Bus with destiny to Ica, arrival at 8:45AM. Private transfer to Nazca (90 minutes) and visit to the María Reiche Museum and Nazca Viewpoint. Overflight of the Nazca Lines. In the afternoon, private transfer to Oasis of Huacachina, located in Ica's Desert (90 minutes). We spend the rest of the day relaxing under the desert sun, in the hotel's pool or by the lagoon. We drive across Ica's desert in a 4x4 buggy vehicle, and will make many stops along the way for pictures. The desert of Ica is the most beautiful in the country and offers stunning landscapes, not only of sand dunes, but also of the Huacachina lagoon from above.
There will be many points where we will have the opportunity to experience the exhilaration of one of most popular sports in Ica : Sandboarding! Our driver will take us to the summit of some dunes, and from the very top you will be able to slide down the dune. Before we start to sand surf, the guide/instructor will teach us specific techniques to ensure a safety ride.
There are actually plenty spots to sandboard around Huacachina Oasis, with a wide variety of dunes, suitable for the very beginners, as well as for professional sand boarders. Keep in mind that on this tour you will not have to walk up the dunes to go for a second or a third ride, our driver will do all the lifting job for you. Overnight in Huacachina
